me, my health & I

Last week I turned down workingon a project which meant I’d have to commute to up north every Monday and return back to mine on Friday… the drive is about 6 hours each way…I politely told them no thanks & then added if they chose to keep on taking work up north then they should hire competent folk that live in the area…

This week I got coerced into being the Engineering Consultant for a new bid and I’m not inspired at all…5 days of my time is all I’ve agreed to… I just hope 5 days of work will NOT turn into 3 weeks…

I can’t seem to concentrate at work this week… I don’t feel well… I think I might be coming down with a coldwatery eyes plus my glands are slightly swollen... my own is that if it is a cold it should just come and pass quickly jo…

I'm blaming my Principal Consultant because he came in with a cold this week... also blaming him since he is the one that keeps pointing the Engineering Managers to my desk to ask me to work on projects that he cannot work on... despite the fact that we are BOTH fully loaded my name is still the automatic default from his lips.

Saying that he has just snuck off to 'The Boat Show'... he was trying to keep it quiet from me but I heard him whispering and acting shifty... not like him... then I saw him turning off his computer early... very unlike him... so I walked up to his desk and was like... ‘er... erm... what are you doing cos you better not be dashing off? btw what is all this I just overheard about a boat show?’... the poor guy looked like he'd just been caught with his hands in the cookie jar... lol

Despite the fact that I was amused, I met his stuttered reply with a stern look... at which point he just laughed... I wasn't too hard on him sha because he was here until about 7pm last night... COB is 4:30pm... I left at about 6:30pm yesterday but it was a longish day for me because I was in for 7:30am.

Anyway... back to my health... I have a pain in my neck… I ignored it over the weekend but it is still there… I know full well it is hurting in the same place as it did 4 years ago…

Good Shepherd just send one of your angels to hold me… for now that’s all I ask.

Maybe it is in my head but at the moment… about everything… I am thinking of this passage:

‘…For I will restore you to health and I will heal you of your wounds,' declares the LORD…’ Jeremiah 30:17

So be it, in Jesus Name.

What was I saying?... oh yes... 4 years ago I found a very small lump in my neck… I searched around at the time and found another…I have to thank God for small mercies because neither have grown since I showed the doctor back then… but I never went back like he suggested…

I will register with a doctor's surgery tonight… I should have done so when I moved up here but hey 21 months is an improvement for me… last time I moved it took me over 2 years to register…actually it was probably closer to 3 years.

Hopefully they’ll quickly transfer my medical notes from the old doctor's practice so I can make an appointment for next week… else I’ll pick them up next Tuesday when I drive south to discuss my Russian work.

Must remember to call the HR dept and take up the private health care option that I’m now entitled to have…no disrespect to the NHS.

Woah. Yes, good health will be your portion in Jesus Name, Amen. Hope the cold passes away fast o.

About your projects, since people are asking you to do unprecedented tasks it means that you're well loaded with intelligence and skill. That's an awesome thing. Feel free to turn them down...lol. But don't bug yourself about your assigned tasks too much, it can make you ill. Some of them may seem impossible, but miraculously you may have solutions to them.

All the best dear...

You are well in Jesus' name. BTW, stress weakens your immune system, soooo, take it easy!

Naapali 17 September 2008 at 15:14

Pele. I hope your insurance covers physical therapy or even acupuncture.

I know patients that swear by it. I tried it once for relaxation therapy and wondered whose idea of cruelty it was to suggest that having people stick 6 inch long pins in one was relaxing.

It did not work for me, but it works for many others, perhaps it might work for you. However, see your doctor first o!

ShonaVixen 17 September 2008 at 15:36

lol@ naapali and accupuncture..i dont think i can try that one..

Hope you get well soon...i think its a bug coz m feeling like a cold's coming on 2 but it still hasnt arrived!!
always love the private health option!!NHS sucks...my former GP is top on that list..i think she really shouldnt be a doctor..really!! But make sure you go and register ASAP

Eh ya...sorry oh. That passage you are thinking on is just it...I had a cold for 3 days but it cleared when it got tired...

You are healed and whole by the stripes of Jesus...

You are such a strong, hardworking lady...try oh.

Why are we so negligent of our health is beyond me. I have had nagging pains here and there for years, but I have yet to see a doctor about them...

Please do as I say and not as I do, and go get it checked out very soon... Remember the big birthday in November? You want to be all cleared for it.

Take care of you, Snow Flake. :)

Im just as bad when it comes to going to the gp or registering when I move house.
My GP surgery is currently the accident and emergency dept
I figure if its an emergency I go to the ER
If its not concerning enough for me to trek to the ER at 2am and then wait another 3hrs to be attended to (whilst drunken louts with half a glass bottle stuck in their necks whiz thru the door and jump the queue)then its not concerning enough to be classed as an illness lol
But on a serious note go and get your neck checked out!!!

Carlang 18 September 2008 at 04:06

Oh don't fret.
It might be the stirrings of something lovely.
Maybe a mole.
Or a delightful pimple.
Or even better.. a third nipple?

lol.
You're fine dear.

By all means hurry up and see a doctor but do it because of those free sweets they have for patientd.

I never can resist free stuff!

Carlang 18 September 2008 at 04:19

FYI..

I love your boss!!

"...hurting in the same place as it did 4 years ago…..." this made you sound old.

CaramelD 18 September 2008 at 11:03

Don't be sick oh! Ndo! It's probably stress induced. You might need to book time for a deep tissue massage to reinvigorate you and get your blood pumping! It's money well spent trust me !

aloted 18 September 2008 at 15:43

Pls don't over stress yourself o..it is well with u in Jesus name, sickness is not your portion.

pele...

UndaCovaSista 18 September 2008 at 16:15

Pele, dear. You've got the right idea there, not taking on work willy nilly to prove you're some kind of superwoman.

Please go and register with your GP o! Don't be like me. I havent changed GPs since i left the address i've spent the longest time at so far i.e. about 6 years. And i left the area 4 years ago!

Afrobabe 18 September 2008 at 16:18

I seem to be the only one who gets registered with a GP in any town I move to, even if its just for a month…babe, please don’t joke with ur health, go and have it checked out…By his stripes you are healed….

This means no jumping off planes for you young lady…

Mz. Dee 18 September 2008 at 17:16

awww hope u get well soon.. come back o!

FineBoy Agbero 18 September 2008 at 20:27

i'm a little disappointed o!
First, u asked God to heal u, then in d next breath u decide to go register for the doctor's kini?
Na who dey heal? God or d doctor?
Abeg, my sista, activate ur faith o!!!

Maybe i shld use myself to encourage u: i've not swallowed a tablet (no even Vit C) in 8 yrs! Divine health, i tell u; nothin else...

(vixenchick) 19 September 2008 at 00:52

praying for you to feel better!

Smaragd 19 September 2008 at 10:47

fineboyagbero, God does not encourage ignorance o! Shubby should see a doctor first, find out what she'll be using her faith up against.

i'm sure people dont testify by saying "i want to thank God for healing me of sometin-sometin", they usually know what exactly they were healed of which means they saw the doctor.

Shubby darling, i'm as bad as u where hospitals are concerned, but that's mainly cuz i dont trust most hospitals here in naija. so u have no excuse.

it is well with u.

naijaleta 19 September 2008 at 14:50

Pele O! I hope it's noting serious. Anyway, the sooner you went to the doctor the better.

Maybe you'll decide not to go skydiving anymore. Just maybe.

Buttercup 19 September 2008 at 20:59

awww shubby dubby doo!

it is well with u..will be prayin..

as jaycee implied, u must be really good at what u do for ur name to be the 'automatic default' from ur principal consultant..

Nigerian Drama Queen 21 September 2008 at 04:22

Kpele my sister.
Please go see the Doctor Asap. I hope its nothing serious or expensive
Get well soon.

Parakeet 21 September 2008 at 15:44

Aww...poor Shubs. Hope you much better now. Cold are so contagious and I feel people should stay away when they have them.

As for the pain in you neck it could be stress. I get that when am stress.

Take best care.

Smaragd 23 September 2008 at 13:56

"Shubby dubby doo, where are u? i've got some work for u now..."

hope u are fine babe.

Shubby Doo 24 September 2008 at 17:11
