Happy Birthday, Shubby Doo.

Belated, we know but sincere all the same.

'Flew over snow capped mountains ..., stood on the rim of the Grand Canyon ... went skydiving ... boogied on so many nights.' Na you biko.

There's something about you, flying and snow, Scorpio. What was it again?

bumight 11 November 2008 at 17:48

Happy Birthday!!!,
obviously you're having tons of fun, have more fun then!

Writefreak 11 November 2008 at 18:11

Enjoyment galore and a lot of daring things you did there!

Happy belated birthday!

InCogNaija 11 November 2008 at 18:39

you CANNOT do that... it is illegal to have that much fun in one weekend! damn!
Happy bornday!

Jennifer A. 11 November 2008 at 18:53

Awwwww...I'm glad you have a fun-filled BIRTHDAY WEEKEND.

You are special and unique. The apple of God's eyes...you deserved it!!!! Yay!

Sky-diving? You've got some boldness o...lol.

Shubby Doo 11 November 2008 at 20:45

@geisha.song - thank you. it was the most exciting one 4 me to date. Everything planned more or less went off without a hitch!!!

@shonavixen - thanks…still smiling even now. Can’t believe I did all that in a few days

@oluwadee - thanks

p.s
There was no cake but there was plenty of champagne!!!

@naapali - thanks doc

@sha - thank you

p.s
trust me you soooo would not have been jealous of the feeling we experienced on the small plane taking us back to Nevada from Arizona…we thought it might crash into to the ground or in2 the colorado river!!! I started praying real hard

@rethots - thank you…lol…i have a some way 2 go b4 i turn 34…i hope to God that when i do eventually turn 34 i'll still be as adventurous as this

@aloted - thank you my sister.

re: the skydive
-you get on a plane.
-the master jumper straps himself to you (mine was extremely cute!!!)
-the plane climbs to 15,000 feet, they open the plane door and then out i you go…
-you assume a banana position when your instructor taps you as you start 2 free fall @ 120mph
then he opens the parachute…it was so quiet at this point & the view of the earth was (when you not within a cage (like a plane) was unbelievable

Skydiving was fun…honestly i don't think i actually processed what i was doing until i was sat with my legs dangling out of the plane & by then it was 2 late…

all the instructors seemed 2 have a crazy surfer dude mentality…but they were all so sweet…& they took safety really seriously

p.s
besides we had no choice but to trust them…they threatened that if we didn't do as we were told they would cut the straps that connected us to them mid-air…lol

@ibiluv - thank you. i had so much fun…

p.s
i also meant to head out to a male strip club in Nevada but just didn't have the time…darn!!!

@30+- awww…sweetie thanks. i am just thanking God that i was able to have such an occasion

@NIMMO - thank you…your well wishes are welcomed here anytime…

p.s
it is the nature of my true spirit personified

@bumight – thank you. Been sleeping all day since I got back to England 2day

@writefreak – thanks

@incognaija – hahaha…4rm time to time, in life, it is a must to do something like this

@jaycee – thanks sweetie.

p.s
boldness…nahhh..i think my brain was starved of the necessary oxygen to think properly to stop myself from jumping out of a functioning plane… lol

but seriously did you know that if the pressure @ high altitude is 2 much, so much so, that one finds it hard to breath; apparently the best way too inject oxygen into one's lungs is to scream!!!

Funny I didn’t scream during the free fall…my instructor looked into my eyes later & said ‘u were awesome girl’…that was the only time I felt weak in the knees… go figure!!!

Miss Definitely Maybe 11 November 2008 at 22:22

Oh Happy Belated Birthday
am hopeless at remembering dates and times
will probably turn up two days late for my own wedding
hope you having a fabulous holiday

Anonymous,  12 November 2008 at 07:43

Ouch! ..........premptive me. Why you think you won't be this adventurous then?

bArOquE 12 November 2008 at 09:13

OMG, when will i enjoy my birthday such as you have?...Happy Birthday in arrears...when are you back?

UndaCovaSista 12 November 2008 at 12:31

Happy belated birthday,sweetie. I'm green with envy! Sounds like loads of fun

aloted 12 November 2008 at 15:03

wow..thanks for taking time out to give me more details...men! u r hard core..
so which one be banana position..i am assuming they already showed u that one before u jumped..lol

i dont think i can do it sha..maybe after i give birth to all the kids i want to have..ehnnn..naa!

Allied 12 November 2008 at 22:22

I can’t BELIEVE I AM SO LATE... but forgive me, i was sick

Happy Belated birthday, and I know u had fun but skydiving?

That is on another level. I always want to try new things but before I try skydiving, I will enroll for life insurance. At least leave for money for my grieving parents.

Flourishing Florida 13 November 2008 at 11:27

wow. double wow. sky-diving!!! now, daz something i'd love 2 do. but am sure i'd freak out & plunge 2 my death. am so scared of height eh. & u have d same birthday with MM. wow. well, he did have d great birthday too. he said it was his best *** ever! hehehehe

boy oh boy, am i tripping over ur weekend. wonderful

Shubby Doo 13 November 2008 at 13:56

@Miss DM - lol...i'm sure that isn't true...if you'd been 2 days late for this you'd have missed all the fun!

i'm back now but i did thanks

@rethots – simply because with age comes wisdom…besides there is a time for everything & the time for this was now

@baroque – thanks darling…what did you do for yours?…it was a long w/e 'bday do' so I’m already back in England…my next holiday is Nigeria for Xmas…I’m there for 3 weeks…yay!

@UCS – thanks hun. You are so gonna love skydiving…I wanted to go straight back up and do it again!!!

Ours was a 3 mile skydive from 15,000 ft…totally awesome…remember to kick your feet up so as not to break your ankles as you land…

p.s
Word of advice…too much was going on during the freefall phase for me to notice but I was very cold during the parachute phase so wear a jumper…my instructor was so sweet when I started shivering…he started to rubs his hands up and down my arms…o boy did that warm me up!!!

@aloted – banana position is just that…you throw your arms up in front of you and you legs up behind you…so your belly forms the bottom of the banana boat during the freefall

@allied – thanks hun…what was wrong? are you fully recovered?… hope you are feeling better now sha sweetie.

p.s
No amount of money could compensate your parents for the loss of someone as precious to them as you

pp.s
Dare I say it… but…I meant (we all meant) to take out insurance especially for this part of the holiday but just forgot 2…very bad. So right now I am so thanking God for his infinite mercies!!! I’m alive to say I enjoyed it!

@FFF - you're tripping?...& i'm still tripping...lol

p.s
he has?!! cool!

pp.s
of course he did...hehehe...i won't ask what your present to him was but i'm guessing he enjoyed it so much so becos it was the first with you as his wife!!!

UndaCovaSista 13 November 2008 at 20:32

@shubby - thanks for the advice. Particularly about my ankles! At the tender age of thirty-X, i shall definitely be needing them intact. Just out of curiosity, what did you feel/think just before you jumped?

UndaCovaSista 13 November 2008 at 20:33

oh yeah, and pictures please...!!!

SOLOMONSYDELLE 14 November 2008 at 02:50

Ah, happy belated!!! Sounds like you had a fabulous bday!!!

Congrats!

Chris Ogunlowo 14 November 2008 at 09:41

Happy Belated B'day! Hope you had fun. Where is my cake?

RE: Maybe shock advertising works, maybe it doesn't. You can be sure I didn't bother to know the brand too, even as i type here. But you like the humour that came with it, especially Bill Gate's dick, don't you? ;)

bArOquE 14 November 2008 at 11:59

i did nothin to special, had only guys over for the pre-outing groove, then got most of the lot high on champagne & D'Banj...so, do we get to be blessed by your hands this xmas?

Ms Sula 14 November 2008 at 12:18

Awwww, that sounded fantabulous!!

Happy Birthday to you!

You need to describe the skydiving in much more details. :)

Buttercup 14 November 2008 at 20:57

Dang, 4 days late...HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY HON!

Glad u r having a blast..

U REALLY DID GO SKY DIVING!!!

Shubby Doo 16 November 2008 at 14:54

@UCS - i can't quite explain it…it was just so surreal…i was still trying to process what i was seeing and how i was feeling when my instructor hurled us out of the plane…then all i remember was the pressure against my face as i started to fall…when i stopped thinking about that i was able to appreciate what i was doing…and of course the view!

p.s
i wasn't scared

pp.s
then instructor had the camera strapped to his arm so i am yet to receive the skydiving pictures thru the post…will probably send u an e-mail instead of posting pics here

@SSD - thanks

@aloofar - thanks.

p.s
lol…it was the audacity of the campaign was what made me laugh…bill gates was funny but I still prefer iceman

@baroque - will be in lagos for xmas…so if you're in lagos 2…then yes my hand is definitely yours for the champagne high…lol

@ms. sula - thank you. it was great…

re: skydiving:
-we got on a small plane with a rollershutter door (seeing that scared me a little cos I was expecting a proper plane door)
-the master jumper strapped himself to me
-we flew above the clouds to 15,000 feet (the view was amazing)
-b4 the rollershutter door was opened, my instructor put on my eye goggles and helmet (the latter was more like a hat needed just to protect your ears during the free fall)
-i watched Tweet jump out second…still in mid conversation…(i started laughing)
-i was the 5th to jump out…when it was my turn i went to the door and sat with my legs dangling out of the plane.
-the instructor waited until the 4th jumper was well clear of the plane and then kinda rocked from side to side and then out we went…
-i assumed the banana position when he tapped me and we continued to free fall @ 120mph
-then he opened the parachute… and we descended slowly for about 7 to 10 minutes - this bit was very cold…very quiet…the ability to have a 360 degree view of earth below was amazing

@buttercup - all belated wishes are welcomed here hun so thanks.

p.s
Yes i really did go…yay!

Jinta 16 November 2008 at 18:07

a birthday full of adjectives - fantastic.

Emeka Amakeze 19 November 2008 at 11:13

A belated happy birthday to you.

Carlang 20 November 2008 at 17:43

Happy Birthday.
I have decided that my life is really too dull.
lol.

I have my birthday for next year all planned out.

9am: Wake up. Excited.
12pm: Turn up at the beach.
1pm: Jump in dressed in my wetsuit.
1.10pm: Remind myself for the 134th time not to panic about the sharks all around me.

1.30pm: Explain for the fifth time to Saint Peter that i was not, infact, trying to kill myself. Swimming with sharks is in fact an accepted sport.
No. I dont know why the shark bit me.
No.. I didn't see a ketchup bottle in it's fin.....

doug 21 November 2008 at 09:11

Happy birthday...in arrears. Skydiving is ALWAYS an awesome experience. Next try deep sea diving....in a place where you're sure not to end up eaten of course.

Shubby Doo 21 November 2008 at 15:35

@jinta – what an honour.

p.s
yes o! I was blessed to celebrate it in a fantastic way.

@NDQ – thanks. You come across as someone with courage and conviction so I am sure that should you ever decide to do this…you would!

p.s
The rollercoaster ride was more scary than the sky dive…honestly!

@emeka amakeze – thank you

@carlang – lol…4get the beach…you should join me as I take up doug’s suggestion…somewhat modified sha…shark diving (in the steel cage of course!)

4get the nashing teeth & the fear of death and think of the view!…LOL

@doug – thank you. I keep meaning to go scuba diving and deep sea diving in Egypt. Maybe next year!

p.s
will be sure to keep well clear of piranhas, pacus & sharks!

Omo calabar. 21 November 2008 at 18:40
